What are the problems of education of in Hong Kong?

Different countries have different educational systems. I studied in secondary school for 7 years, i have to talk about the problems of education in Hong Kong.

First, I think mother-tongue teaching is not good for students. As in Hong Kong, English is very important. People may communicate with colleague in future. Besides experience, boss may focus on employees' engligh abilities. I think that English is a kind of language, students have to study it through a long time. It is better to touch it more by learning different subjects. In fact, the English ability of people is descending.

Second, the pressure of Hong Kong students is too heavy. The education system is exam-oriented. The competitiveness between students is heavy too. They have to study in University in order to get a better job in the future. Compared with the West, students are more relax. In Hong Kong,  many students are focus on "marks" only. And they seldom join activities. Just like my friend, she never go out with friends since form 3, she always study. Although she can study in University now, the relationship between she and her friends is not good.

Now I am study in HKU SPACE, I think there are some problems. We have to study some subjects that we don't like. This really affect the concentration in the lessons.
Besides, the sense of belonging in secondary school is larger than HKU SPACE. Because I met many classmates in different courses, but we may study together about 3 months, it is totally different from secondary. I find it is hard to be friends with other because we get along with less time.

Anyway, the educational systems in Hong Kong may have some problems, it still have some advantages. Therefore, I will try my best to study in Hong Kong.

Survey Project Reflection

The topic of our survey is "How do Japanese think about Hong Kong?" After doing this project, we found that Japanese people may not familiar with Hong Kong.
I think that interviewees have some misunderstanding about our questionaire. i would like to ask about the impressions of Hong Kong in their mind, not their real experiences. However, in question 4(What do you think of MTR), since not many interviewees have been to Hong Kong, they skip this question. Therefore, I would like to ask some questions which are not related to real experiences in the future.

For the results, we found that some of them are same as our expectation but some are not. As I said before, the most shocked result is that Jackie Chan can represent Hong Kong.

I suggest that when we design the questionaire, we have to make sure all the wordings are clear enough. Also,we have to consider that are the interviewees suitable for our survey topic because may be some of them are not familiar with the topic that we choose. When we present our project, well-prepared powerpoint are important, for example,we can add some attractive photos in the powerpoint in order to draw audience attention.

Then I would like to talk about  classmates' presentations in second day:
Group 4:
They survey topic of group 4 is "Marriage".I think it is interesting topic.
I am surprised that Japanese people do not mind the age of lovers.
Because in my mind, male in Japan are male chauvinism, they would like to find the lovers who younger than them, they want their lovers are petite and cute.

Group 5:
They talked about the life of Japanese people.
Actually, I think same as them that Japanese people may always drink miso soup or go to ohanami. However, from their results, most of Japanese people answered "no". It is nice that they use some photos in the powerpoint and they really draw my attention.

Group 6:
Their survey is about travelling.
One of the questions is "if your trip is overseas, where would you like to visit?",
about 70% people choose visiting Asia. This result is different from my expectation, may be I think Europe is more attractive than Asia.XD

Every presentations also brought out some interesting things to me. Japanese people's thinking are not totally same with our expectations. Anyway, thank you for all the presentatinos.^^

What I have learnt from classmates' presentations

Group 1 (アンナ,静,ナッツ):
The survey of group 1 is about animations and comics.
In Hong Kong, lots of teenagers like Japanese animations and comics.
Even in foreign countries, you can find different japanese comics in bookshop and library.
since they are popular, I think Japanese also like comics and animations especially otaku .
However, from group 1 survey's result, Japanese have some negative views on them, and i would like to know the reasons.

Group 2 (Isolde, Nicole, Peggy, Sing):
The topic of group 2 is "Perception of the Japanese people towards Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance Regarding the Healthy Development of Youths".
I think this topic is interesting because I do not know what is "Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinace". Through the presentation, I know that it is the rule for animations and comics which are porny. It can prevent teenagers touching this kind of comics and animations. From the result, some respondents think that the ordinance may not work.
I agree with them as teenagers can read this kind of comics and animations from different ways. Also, who can decide which comics and animations should put into adult corner?

In our group presentation, our topic is "How do Japanese think about Hong Kong".
Yuzu have mentioned his Japanes friends said that if talking about Hong Kong, they think of Jackie Chan. I think some classmates are surprised about it and same as me.
